Eket are from the Ibibio ethnic group in south – eastern Nigeria. They are patrilineal ethnic group led by their elders and head of families, Ekpo Ndem Isong. While their main duty is to keep contact with the Ikan (ancestors), members of this society are constantly masked as part of their duty. This ethnic group is well known for their ceremonial dance call Ogboum that take place in the middle of the year, for eight days and eight weeks for a fruitful harvest.
